New bulk warehouses

Two new bulk warehouses with a total capacity of 26,000 cubic meters represent a strategic investment in a growing bulk market and will strengthen the Port of Grenaa in its effort to get even more bulk in and out of the port.

”Bulk is a strategic focus and investment area for the Port of Grenaa, and the two new warehouses are in 100% compliance with the demands of the bulk market today. At the same time, we are able to take new bulk products into the port”, says Theis Gisselbæk, Business Developer at the Port of Grenaa.

The warehouses are dimensioned with the purpose of accommodating cargo from ships between 10,000 and 15,000 GT. This measure will increase the port's ability to bring grain and feed products, biomass in the form of wood pellets and vegetable products in the quay in Grenaa.

”We are gearing up the port to handle this type of bulk because we are seeing an increasing demand in the area. The two new warehouses interact with other investments that enable us to handle bulk cargoes in an efficient manner. Our latest investment in a Sennebogen crane is part of the same strategic position”, says Theis Gisselbæk.

The two new warehouses will each be 2,000 square meters and will have a clearance of up to 13 meters. They are equipped with 4.6 meters of pressure-resistant sides and can accommodate up to 13,000 cubic meters of bulk goods. The warehouses are equipped with fire alarms and are able to supply all areas and meet the current demands.

The two warehouses are expected to be ready and commissioned in December 2018 and February 2019 and are already rented for long-term. At the same time, investigations will be initiated on additional warehouse capacity with the purpose of meeting the demands.
