A port in rapid development since 1813

The Port of Grenaa has developed enormously over the years – from a minor port focusing on fishing, to an innovative and efficient commercial and industrial port.

2017 - Grenaa Havn establishes a new innovative port center
- Bent Hansen elected as new Chairman of Grenaa Havn A/S
- Grenaa Havn A/S presents a new strategy and profile.
2016 - Construction work on the new bypass to the north of Grenaa starts.
2016 - Poul Anker Lübker elected as new Chairman of Grenaa Havn A/S. 
2015 - Henrik Carstensen appointed as new CEO of Grenaa Havn A/S.
2015 - Grenaa Havn A/S reinforces its position as a bulk port with 2 new bulk warehouses.
2014 - Grenaa Havn A/S invests in a new Gottwald mobile crane with a capacity of 140 tons.
2013 - 200th anniversary and installation of the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm celebrated on 8 June.
2013 - Ambitious plan for the Port of Grenaa up to 2030 presented.
2011 - Siemens Wind Power moves in to take 130,000 sq. m. of the north port.
2010 - DONG Energy opens premises in the Port of Grenaa.
2010 - Port opening – Grenaa's new north port celebrated in style.
2010 - Stena Line celebrates 50 years of the Grenaa-Varberg ferry line.
2008 - The Port of Grenaa joins the elite club of ports able to take modular road trains.
2005 - The first phase of expansion costing DKK 70 million is completed by the building of a waterbreak and mole.
2001 - Anholt Havn becomes part of Grenaa Havn A/S.
2000 - New port area and 360 metres of quay with 10 metre water depth.
2000 - Grenaa Havn changes form of incorporation to Grenaa Havn A/S.
1983 - The Gren Å river is extended again to make room for building the Kattegatcentret and other things.
1972 - Major construction work, including new ferry dock, assembly area, roadworks and oil pier.
1960 - Europafærgen starts sailing between Grenaa and Varberg.
1958 - First ferry dock opens – the ferry "Djursland" docks.
1952 - The first port expansion after WWII creates more space for the fishing fleet.
1934 - The Grenaa-Hundested ferry route opens on 14 July.
1874 - Construction of a new port starts. Work completed in 1879 after 5 years.
1813 - The first actual port in Grenaa is built.
